Effective threats
To the editor:
Isn’t it nice that the Kansas University department of religious studies sent out a postcard apologizing for Professor Mirecki’s e-mail remarks. Even more interesting is that the card went out to “department donors.” Well I guess money is a priority at KU. Maybe the County Commission should follow KU’s example and send out a postcard apologizing for Commissioner McElhaney’s recent behavior. Wait, maybe I should send out a postcard apologizing for my dogs’ recent behavior in a neighbor’s yard!
Sad part of all of this is that it was the result of actions toward KU from so-called Christian leaders who were threatening the university. I guess “threaten your neighbor” has replaced “love your neighbor” and works better for the radical right evangelical movement in Kansas.
