Volunteers still needed for Christmas dinner

Ask and ye shall receive.

Organizers of this year’s Community Christmas Dinner say they have enough turkeys and hams.

“We’re covered,” said Kent Ely, one of the event’s coordinators. On Monday, Ely announced the need for 35 turkeys and 30 canned hams.

The group expects to feed about 700 diners.

“We still need people to help set up, serve, clean and deliver meals,” Ely said. “And if anyone wants to bake a pie, we can always use another pie.”

Would-be volunteers are asked to call Ely at 760-2943.

The annual dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 25 at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vt. It’s free and open to the public.
