Family time

To the editor:

I would like to thank the Lawrence Journal-World and 6News for running stories on my family’s determination to keep my grandmother’s tradition of Christmas decorating alive. The reporters from both places were wonderful! Richard (Mr. Journal-World), the photographer, has come by my grandma’s house for years, sometimes to take pictures for articles, other times just because he knew she and my father would be there decorating.

The reporters did a great job capturing the feel of the day. Casey from Channel 6 was awesome! She spent hours with us to get to the true feelings of all the family members. We were so pleased with her report.

We have all helped grandma decorate in the past but never as a group like on Saturday. I wish my grandmother would have been there in person to see it, but I know she and my grandfather are watching over us.

I have not had time yet this year to buy one Christmas present from a store, but the present of our presence all together at my grandma’s house will be one present the Lee, Devosha, Estrada, Ortego and McBride families will never forget. Especially our children, and, in that, my Grandpa and Grandma Lee’s legacy and love of family will always remain.

Merry Christmas from all of us and take the time to spend some time with your family this year; you never know when it may be their last.

Terri McBride,

Lawrence
