What to do
Here is a sampling of events, museums and happenings from Wednesday through Friday of next week for those making the trip to the Fort Worth Bowl:
Game-related events
* What: Fort Worth Kickoff Luncheon
Who: Speakers are bowl team coaches and Barry Switzer, former Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys coach
When: Noon Thursday
Where: Fort Worth Convention Center
Tickets: $25 by calling (817) 810-0012
* What: Downtown pep rally for both teams, sponsored by the Fort Worth Bowl
Time: 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday
Where: Sundance Square, at parking lot on Main Street between Third and Fourth streets
Fort Worth's Stockyards area offers a variety of Western activities, in addition to bars, shops and restaurants. Those include cattle drives at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily, a historical museum and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.
Who: Coach Mark Mangino will address the crowd at 6:30 p.m.
* What: "Get Ready for a Bowl Game Party," sponsored by KU Alumni Association
When: 7 p.m.-11 p.m. Thursday
Where: Fox & Hound Pub & Grille, Sundance Square, 604 Maine St.
* What: Pre-game tailgate party, sponsored by KU Alumni Association
When: 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Friday
Where: East side of Amon G. Carter Stadium
Cost: $15 for adults, $8 for children, including barbecue dinner
* What: Fort Worth Bowl
Who: Kansas University vs. Houston
When: 7 p.m. Friday
Where: Amon G. Carter Stadium, Texas Christian University
