Snow priorities

To the editor:

Public works director Chuck Soules says we would need $470,000 to improve snow removal back to 2000 levels, but it would be a difficult decision for the city commissioners to make.

Isn’t that about the same, or less if you add in all the consultant fees they have paid, as the roundabout they want to put in at 19th and Louisiana?

I believe they said half of that money is already set aside. They also said that the roundabout would become ineffective and even hinder traffic if 100 students would walk through there in an hour, but not to worry “we’re only at 88 students now.” The roundabout is supposed to lower the number of accidents, which is a few a year. How many more accidents all over town would it prevent if the streets were better cleared even if it only snowed three or four times a year? Something to think about as you drive around after the snow.

Which one would improve your quality of life more even if you do drive though the intersection at 19th and Louisiana?
