Bonner Springs ? Free State High’s girls basketball squad reached the championship game of the Bonner Springs Metro Prep Classic, but the Firebirds will have to wait a few days to play for the title.

Free State (2-1) defeated Topeka Seaman, 50-38, Saturday in the semifinals. But this week’s snowy weather pushed the tournament schedule back. The Firebirds will play Junction City at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bonner Springs for the championship.

“We’ll be happy to show up and play whenever they want us to,” FSHS coach Bryan Duncan said.

Jenna Brantley led the Firebirds with 18 points.
