Area residents who think they know a thing or two about holiday shopping can put their investing insights to work as part of a bank-sponsored competition.

The “UMB STOCKing Stuffer Contest,” conducted by Kansas City, Mo.-based UMB Bank, is a tournament-style online contest of 16 individual retail stocks. The stocks will “compete,” head to head, Monday-Thursday, using daily performance on a percentage basis to determine winners. Stocks are major retailers selected at random.

In the game – open to residents of Kansas, Missouri and five other states – the top three pickers will receive gift certificates from UMB. To register, fill out a bracket at http://stockingstuffer.umb.com by 11 p.m. Sunday.
