A 23-year-old Jefferson County man was flown by air ambulance to a Kansas City hospital after falling from a ladder into the basement of a home under construction, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday.

The incident happened about 11 a.m. Monday in the 1200 block of North 100 Road, said Lt. Kari Wempe, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.

The man was taken to University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. The sheriff’s office was not releasing his name Wednesday, and a condition update wasn’t available.
