‘The Snowbowl Effect’ film to be shown

Jayhawk Audubon Society will present a showing of the documentary film, “The Snowbowl Effect,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Douglas County Senior Center, 745 Vt.

Haskell Indian Nations University professor Dan Wildcat will introduce the film, which explores the conflicts between ski-resort developers in Arizona, the U.S. Forest Service and 13 American Indian tribes. The tribes consider the San Francisco Peaks sacred, the developers do not. A Dutch-treat dinner, starting at 6 p.m. at Thai House, 724 Mass., will precede the showing.
