To the editor:

Paul Mirecki is being pilloried as a “hateful” man by fundamentalist intelligent design crusaders, for rightly saying that they (not Christians) deserve a good, scholarly “slap” for their deceptions and willful ignorance. Appallingly, this charge of spreading hatred comes from people who subscribe to and promote the vile belief that, at the end of time, all humans will be divided rigidly into the “sheep” and “goats.”

In this best of all possible worlds, the sheep will receive eternal blissful rewards for being sheep: dull, obedient, conformist, prim, evasive and woolly-headed. The goats will receive eternal horrible punishment for being goats: inquisitive, skeptical, independent, lusty, blunt and hard-headed.

Even were this loathsome, hateful doctrine true, I would not hesitate to suffer my certain fate with honest goats like Mirecki and Dennis Dailey, rather than consort eternally with those hypocritical, hysterical sheep.
