— A lot of trees have already been killed for the $108 million construction of the Interstate 435 and Antioch Road interchange in Overland Park.

Not by bulldozers, but by printers.

The project, which starts in September, was plotted out on plans that were 3,085 pages long on 22-inch by 36-inch sheets, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation. Six sets of plans were needed to bring the total to 18,510 pages, a record for the agency's printing services.

The project includes building 13 new bridges, including one connecting U.S. Highway 69 and I-435, and new decks on four other bridges. It also includes $23 million on retaining walls.

Construction is expected to last three years.
