Sunflower to televise 9 games
Sunflower Broadband Channel 6 will telecast nine city and area regular-season high school football games on a delayed basis this fall.
All contests will be shown at 10:30 p.m. on Friday game nights and again at 11 a.m. the following Saturday.
The schedule will begin with Friday’s Leavenworth-Lawrence High game at Haskell Stadium. Three more of the Lions’ games will be televised, including the city showdown with Free State High on Oct. 21 at Memorial Stadium.
Two other Free State contests are on the Sunflower Broadband schedule. Channel 6 also will show Tonganoxie twice and Eudora once.
In addition, the local cable outlet plans to televise the Lions and/or the Firebirds in the postseason.
Channel 6 sports director Kevin Romary will do the play-by-play. Lynn Harrod, assistant principal at South Junior High, will be the analyst.
