Governor appoints two to commission

— A high-ranking state education official from Lawrence and a former Topeka school superintendent have been named by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to the Education Commission of the States.

Alexa Posny, the assistant commissioner of education for Kansas, and Robert McFrazier, of Berryton, will serve on the commission, which collects and analyzes educational data from each state.

Posny has been with the Kansas Department of Education since 1999 and before that taught at Kansas University.

McFrazier was superintendent of the Topeka school district from 1999 to 2003.
