Proper care

To the editor:

In response to Mr. Stegall’s letter (Public Forum, Aug. 16), I don’t think that anyone overreacted except him.

Your letter conveniently forgot to mention how long this dog was left in the locked car with the windows “partially opened.”

Have you ever sat in a car with the windows “cracked” on an 80-degree day while waiting for someone to finish their socializing?

This dog who is so loved and cared for could have been left at home or your farewells could have happened in a venue where the dog would have been welcomed and safe – a picnic in the park. Of course, that would have required more planning and valuable time.

Taking proper care of a pet isn’t always convenient. This dog didn’t have a choice, but his humans did.

I’m glad so many people were concerned about the dog’s welfare.
