Lawrence High, Free State to scrimmage today at KU

Free State High and Lawrence High will stage football scrimmages this afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

The Firebirds will be on one side of the 50-yard line and the Lions on the other. Warmups will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Bob Lisher and Dirk Wedd, coaches of the two city high schools, asked for permission to use the KU facility for taping purposes.

Both schools will stage their fall sports jamborees Wednesday – the Firebirds at FSHS and the Lions at Haskell Stadium.

Free State’s opener will be 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at Haskell Stadium against Shawnee Mission North. Lawrence High’s lid-lifter will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2, also at HINU, against Leavenworth.
