Family files lawsuit in motorcycle death
The family of a 23-year-old Lawrence man killed in a motorcycle wreck in November has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the driver of the vehicle that struck him.
Matthew Thompson’s mother and father have filed suit in Douglas County District Court against driver Heather Nguyen, 22, of Lawrence, who was driving a pickup that struck and killed Thompson on Nov. 20 at Sixth Street and Graystone Drive.
Prosecutors reviewed the case but said it didn’t appear Nguyen had committed a crime.
Thompson’s family is seeking damages in excess of $75,000.
