A Tonganoxie woman was killed and two people injured Tuesday morning in a collision involving three vehicles on U.S. Highway 24 in Leavenworth County.

Rita Dally, 52, died after being taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Dally was driving a 1997 Dodge van and was stopped preparing to turn off of Highway 24 onto Honey Creek Road south of Tonganoxie when the van was struck from behind by a 1998 Ford sport utility vehicle, the patrol reported.

The collision knocked the van into the westbound lane of the highway where it was struck by the third vehicle, a 1996 Buick.

The driver of the Buick, Timothy Bohannan, 29, Topeka, and a passenger, Mike Bohannan, 30, Merriam, were transported to LMH. Timothy Bohannan was in fair condition Tuesday night and Mike Bohannan was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said.

The driver of the Ford SUV, Sara Schlicht, 16, Tonganoxie, was not injured, nor was a passenger, Rob Schlicht, 14, also of Tonganoxie.

I would suggest this 16 year old lose her license for 18 months so she may have time to ponder this situation.

maybe the 16 year old shouldn't have been driving. she deffinetly should loose her liscence for life. she did just kill someone, maybe she should go to jail. stupid you know what needs to learn to pay attention. If i ever got hit by a kid while i wasn't moving and they were going 70, i would definetly make sure i got my revenge. lucky for her we can't carry concelled weapons in kansas. by the way, that accident made me late for work, Thanks Sara!!! I hope you choke on your tears.

i think that 16 year olds should not be driving, i was hit last year by a 16 year old while i was turning on that same road and she was going 70 and i was at a complete stand still, totalled my car and i was seriously injured, if i had not been wearing my seatbelt and been pushed to the left instead of right, i would be dead. i just don't think teenagers pay enough attention when they drive.

I can't believe the crap that is being posted. It is bad enough that a lady died in this accident and that Sarah will always remember it. There are accident all over the world, key word here is accident. She did not get up and plan for this to happen. She just like Rita was just heading somewhere on a foggy morning and Sarah was going to school. No one but the man upstairs had any idea what was going on. For the one that was so worried about being late for work obviously doesn't care about life if all they were concerned with was work. I drive I70 daily and see full adults reading the paper, talking on cell phones and putting on makeup but I guess that is ok because they are adults right? Wrong, I think we should all be adults here and send our prayers and thought to the Dally family and for the Schlicht family because this accident will always be remember. I do agree that Drivers Ed should be a semester long and a requirement rather then a option for students. Drivers Ed will not keep people of all ages from talking on a cell phone, reading the paper, talking to passengers or changing the radio. Accidents do happen and that is a part of life

I have to agree with the post by MelissaC. However this is directed to eotw33 First of all - Late for work? someone died and someone's life changed forever and all you can think about is being late for work in which judging from your spelling can't be much of job most repectful place of employment would understand as to why you were late.
Second-You would rather conceal a weapon to take care of accident rather than the real reason to protect ourselves. You give definition to road rage and why the murder rate is so high.
I don't know who you are and don't care but accident do happen and I pray that you are never the cause of an accident.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all three families and the ones who helped all of them.

This is a horrible tragedy for everyone involved. I believe that Sara, along with everyone involved in the accident will live with this as a burden for the rest of their lives, but it was an accident. Accidents happen and there are ways that we should educate drivers more intensely, but know matter how much training and education we get on driving... accidents will still happen. And EOTW33, or Dustin Larson.... sorry that you percieve your late arrival to Cingular as more of a burden than a womans life, and a tragedy to the others involved. And I also believe that your comment about being able to carry a concealed weapon is absolutely insane! Grow up and look at the real situation! My thoughts and prayers are extended to all involved.
