To the editor:

Congratulations to the 2005 Lawrence Raiders American Legion baseball team on the completion of the most successful season in Lawrence American Legion baseball history. The team’s loss in the Central Plains Regional final to Rapid City, S.D., on Monday afternoon cannot diminish their accomplishments. The Raiders’ 38-8 final record and second place regional finish make them one of the 16 best American Legion teams in the nation, quite an accomplishment.

Congratulations to coaches Kevin Tucker and Troy Wingert and to the players for an outstanding season. You have made your supporters proud and appreciative of your effort and successes. In addition to being winners on the field, you have conducted yourselves as winners off the field. Again, thanks and congratulations on a job well done.
