Caring home

To the editor:

I work for the Eudora Nursing Center and have for almost 17 years. I work in the laundry and am proud to say we have by far the cleanest and whitest linens. I visited several nursing home laundries in the state and out and they are never as white as what we have.

Eudora Nursing Center is the cleanest, best smelling rest home I have ever been in and I’ve been in quite a few. The staff are a group of caring and helpful people and seem to love the residents.

It is easy to say “Yeah, but,” how would you feel to have a parent in there? Great. My own mother was there for over two years and I couldn’t ask for a better home for her when she could no longer care for herself. The day she passed away a nurse, Shirley Leach, sat with her, swabbed out her mouth and talked to her softly until she was gone. And they say people receive poor care. I don’t think so. I also had my mother-in-law and father-in-law there. An aunt and uncle were there for over five years. All were given great care from all the employees.

It is little crazy rules that our state enforces on this kind of business; one deficiency can end up divided into several. How much attention is given to the love of residents? Not much. As for me, we still have the best nursing center in the state.
