A former employee is suspected of embezzling nearly $30,000 from a local construction company.
Officials at MS Construction, 5200 W. 15th St., noticed suspicious withdrawals earlier this year while reviewing their books, said Capt. David Cobb, a Lawrence Police spokesman. Cobb said the company's investigation showed that $29,432 had been withdrawn improperly between Jan. 5 and June 23 by a former secretary at the company, a 28-year-old Lawrence woman.
Lawrence Police have forwarded the case to the Douglas County District Attorney's office for possible charges.
