Bottom line

City commissioners will consider granting an exception to a building permit moratorium covering the Pinckney neighborhood. Developers are seeking a waiver from the moratorium to build a triplex at 500 Fla.

Background

The Pinckney Neighborhood Assn. is asking city commissioners to not give the project an exception to the building permit moratorium. Neighborhood leaders said they want the project to be redesigned to be compatible with the neighborhood.

Consent agenda

¢ approve City Commission meeting minutes from July 26 and Aug. 2.

¢ receive minutes from various boards and commissions.

¢ approve all claims.

¢ approve drinking establishment licenses for: Wagon Wheel Cafe, 507 W. 14th St.; Stone Creek, 3801 W. Sixth St.; Rick's Place, 846 Ill.; and retail liquor licenses for Danny's Retail Liquor, 1910 Haskell Ave.; and Cork and Barrel, 2000 W. 23rd St.

¢ bid and purchase items:

a.) authorize city manager to execute agreement with RD Johnson for Clinton Water Treatment plant residuals lagoon cleaning for an amount not to exceed $178,200.

b.) award project for street, storm sewer and waterline improvements on Monterey Way from Stetson Road to Peterson Road to King's Construction Co. for $4,178,264.04.

¢ adopt on second and final reading an ordinance to rezone 1.004 acres from M-1 Research to RO-2 Residential-office. The property is located between East 19th Street and Homewood Street, east of Bullene Avenue.

¢ accept dedication of easements and rights-of-ways on the following plats:

a.) final plat for Family Video Movie Club Addition, 1818 Mass.

b.) final plat for Lawrence Country Club Addition No. 2, 2501 Princeton Blvd.

¢ approve midyear funding request for the Sesquicentennial Commission for a birthday concert on Sept. 18.

¢ declare as surplus vehicles and approve donation of a 1993 Ford Explorer to Lawrence Humane Society and 1994 Ford Ambulance to Eudora Township Fire Department.

¢ authorize the mayor to sign a release of mortgage for Freda Hickam, 847 Rockledge Road.

Regular agenda

¢ hold public hearing on 2006 city budget and deal with budget requests for city Webmaster position, to delay Second Generation park projects and set fees for water/sewer, sanitation and golf course.

¢ consider approving request to rezone 7.4 acres from A Agriculture to RM-1 Multiple Family and 4.2 acres from A Agriculture to RM-2 Residence Office. The property is located south of Sixth Street and west of Stonecreek Drive, extended.

¢ conduct public hearing on special assessments for Riverside benefit district.

¢ receive staff memo regarding request for waiver from building permit moratorium for proposed triplex at 500 Fla.

¢ deny a temporary use permitted upon review for a Latin Festival to be held at Gaslight Tavern, 317 N. Second St.

¢ consider motion to recess into executive session to consult with attorney on matters deemed privileged under the attorney-client relationship, and for the discussion of possible real estate acquisition.
