To the editor:
Each summer, Lawrence Parks and Recreation hosts a summer camp, which includes children and adults with disabilities. My son is one of the fortunate children to experience this wonderful camp. Each camper has his or her own challenges, and the staff did a wonderful job of considering each child's needs. I cannot thank them enough for all their kindness, patience and support of my child.
I also want to thank the area businesses that welcomed these campers into their "behind the scenes" world. My son is a special, funny, sweet and bright child. Not everyone looks beyond the disability to see this side of him, so thank you again to the kind and supportive staff for a wonderful summer experience for my son and a break for me.
