Prosecutors filed attempted-murder and intimidation charges Thursday against a Lawrence man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend earlier in the week at Colony Woods apartments, 1301 W. 24th St.
Rojelio Barron, 36, made a first appearance in District Court, where he was charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim.
Assistant Dist. Atty. Brenda Clary said the 35-year-old woman remained hospitalized in critical condition. The woman also was the victim in an alleged July 15 domestic battery incident involving Barron, according to police.
Judge Jack Murphy appointed an attorney to represent Barron.
