Police are asking for the public's help solving a burglary early Wednesday morning at a tavern in central Lawrence.
A witness called police about 3:40 a.m. Wednesday after seeing a man walking out of Stu's Midtown Tavern, 925 Iowa St. Police came to the scene and found the glass on the bar's front doors had been smashed and an office door inside had been forced open.
They searched the ground outside the bar and found office items including a cash register and a day planner. Twenty dollars in quarters and at least two bottles of liquor were missing from the bar.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 843-TIPS.
