A Kansas University student was taken by helicopter to a Kansas City hospital after being injured in a fight early Saturday morning.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Dan Ward said the 21-year-old man was punched, fell backward and struck his head on the pavement during an altercation at 2:10 a.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Ohio Street.

“There was a fight with several individuals,” Ward said. “Not all the individuals involved have been located.”

No arrests have been made, Ward added, though contact has been made with one suspect.

The student was still hospitalized Monday morning, Ward said, but was improving and expected to make a full recovery.
