Tonganoxie is now the home of a world champion wiener race dog.

Moose, a 12-pound, red male dachshund, ran 110 yards in 13.14 seconds Sunday at The Woodlands dog track in Kansas City, Kan., to win the 2005 Wiener Dog National Champion final race. Moose's owner is Aubrey Mikijanis of Tonganoxie.

Moose beat out more than 60 other dachshunds who were entered in the 12th annual Woodlands event. The dogs ran in qualifying races to get to the final. Their owners ran alongside of them.

The average speed of a speeding dachshund is 4 mph, compared to a greyhound's 45 mph, Woodlands officials said.

A crowd of 11,500 people watched the wiener dog championship races.
