To the editor:

I heartily congratulate coach Roy Williams for the championship of the Tar Heels of North Carolina. He deserved it after coaching here at Kansas University for 15 years and in North Carolina for two. I wished it had happened here while he was still coaching at KU. He could have done it here at KU, but it didn’t happen.

I had a whole lot more fun than disappointments in watching the KU basketball when coach Williams was here at KU.

I thank the Lawrence Journal-World and sports editor Chuck Woodling for printing the whereabouts of the previous graduates who are now playing professional basketball in the NBA. I watch them play whenever I can. I enjoyed watching Paul Pierce, Kirk Hinrich (he is doing very good), Raef LaFrentz (he’s doing better now that he is with the Boston Celtics with Paul), Drew Gooden also is doing well. With the millions they’re earning, the others can do better. I think they are helping the teams because they are still here playing.

Again, my congratulations to coach Roy Williams!
