School board approves ’04-’05 salary increase

Lawrence school board members Monday night approved an agreement that will increase teachers’ salaries for the 2004-2005 school year based on their experience and education. The retroactive compensation will be paid to teachers in a lump sum sometime in July. Funds for the pay increase will come out of the 2005-2006 budget.

Board members also approved a 1.66 percent pay increase for administrative and other noncontract staff members. It, too, is for the current school year and will be paid out of next year’s budget in a lump sum.

Mary Rodriguez, the district’s human resources director, said the 1.66 percent increase was comparable with what teachers will receive.
