Wetlands fan

To the editor:

The wetlands area north and south of 31st Street, going east of Louisiana, is so important to so many people. For example, I am an artist and I like to take walks and do sketches and watercolors there. There is no place that Lawrence has that is close by and as full of interesting, peaceful flora and fauna. Any person can go for a walk and he/she does not have to drive all the way to the Flint Hills to do a landscape.

Please don’t put a four-lane bypass (and all the motels and gas stations etc.) right through what’s left of God’s property.

Joni Mitchell sang: “Well, they paved paradise and put up a parking lot…”
