Lawrence Police were investigating a bloody scene this morning at the Sunflower Apartments, 2564 Redbud Lane. Blood was streaked down the front of the building, indicating it came from second floor.

Lawrence police were continuing their investigation this afternoon of a bloody scene at an apartment building in southern Lawrence.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was taken by Lifeflight Helicopter to a Kansas City-area hospital. His injuries appear to be life-threatening, police said.

“It appears to be self-inflicted at this time,” said Sgt. Dan Ward, a Lawrence police spokesman.

Police received a call at 3:39 a.m. today to come to one of the Sunflower Apartment buildings at 2564 Redbud Lane.

Blood could be seen on the building’s exterior outside of a second-floor window. Blood stains were also could be seen on the curb outside the apartment.

Police had taped off the area as the investigation continued.
