Free State soccer rallies for 2-all tie

? Down by two goals in the first half, Free State High’s soccer team rallied for a 2-2 tie Friday at Leavenworth.

“We played our best game of the season,” FSHS coach Jason Pendleton said. “We kept battling. We battled through two 10-minute overtimes to get a tie against a good Leavenworth team.”

Sophomore Lucca Wang scored the Firebirds’ first goal three minutes into the second half off an assist by freshman Logan Keasling.

With about 15 minutes to go, freshman Alexa Moreno scored to make it 2-all.

Pendleton cited the play of Keasling, Leah Williams, Emily Erb, Clare Robinson and Banaka Okwuone.

The Firebirds (1-4-1) will play host to Shawnee Mission East at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
