Warm day for the Tax Man

If writing checks on Tax Day has you feeling a little gloomy, go outside. The sky is mostly blue and temperatures are on the upswing.

“It is a beautiful morning outside and we’re expecting a fantastic day across Lawrence,” said Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist.

At 8:45 a.m., the temperature was 49, with a light easterly wind making the wind chill 47. Lawrence is expected to get just a few clouds today as the high begins to climb into the mid 70s, Reith said.

Today’s high is expected to top out at 73 degrees today, Reith said. Clouds will be on the increase during the afternoon.

If you’re headed tonight down to the downtown post office at 645 Vt. to mail off your income taxes — and party with the Alferd Packer Memorial String Band in the annual Tax Night festivities — you’ll find temperatures dropping into the 50s. CBS’ Bill Geist will be on hand to document the event for “Sunday Morning.”

Saturday’s morning low will be 45, with the high climbing to 75 by Saturday afternoon, with partly cloudy skies.

Sunday’s morning low will be 50, with the thermometer reading rising to 81 by Sunday afternoon.
