No more tears

To the editor:

Tuesday, April 5, does not and will not mean anything. The religious right and those who support discrimination won. So what? Gay marriage already was illegal and when this irrelevant and redundant amendment starts screwing up the “straights” who voted for it, they will still have my sympathy.

As a compassionate and caring human being, who also happens to love his boyfriend, I have used up all my anger and I simply have no more tears to cry over this issue. I look at the picture of pastors Terry Fox and Joe Wright shaking hands with elated smiling faces and it is so pathetic all I can do is laugh because I feel so sorry for them.

The amendment passed this time around but it WILL be reversed, and in 50 years, when we are looking back amazed at how two people loving each other could have ever caused such a stir, then it will be my turn to be the one smiling.
