Law enforcement report

  • Lawrence police arrested two people during the weekend for consuming alcohol in public and for indecent exposure at the Amtrak station, 413 E. Seventh St. An officer on routine patrol happened upon the couple, ages 28 and 40, about 4:33 a.m. Sunday and found them engaged in sexual activity, said Sgt. Dan Ward, a Lawrence Police spokesman. Both are residents of the Salvation Army Shelter, 946 N.H.
  • About 6:15 p.m. Sunday, police arrested two other shelter residents for consuming alcohol in public in the east alley of the 900 block of Kentucky Street.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • Someone took a set of golf clubs and a golf bag valued at $2,000 from a home in the 5200 block of Carson Drive, according to a report. The incident happened between April 4 and April 8.
  • Someone took a $2,500 laser level from a construction site in the 1500 block of North 1100 Road. The theft happened between Feb. 26 and March 5, but it wasn’t reported until Friday, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s report.

Accidents

  • A woman was injured Monday evening when her car overturned at the southwest edge of Baldwin, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. She had to be extricated from the car by rescue crews from Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical and the Palmyra Township Fire Department. The woman, whose identity was not released, was taken by ambulance to University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan. Her condition Monday night was unavailable. The car was southbound in the 200 section of East 1600 Road when it went off the road and overturned, coming to a stop on its roof, according to a sheriff’s report. The accident was reported by a passer-by at 5:15 p.m. Officers were continuing to investigate late Monday night. They were not able to immediately interview the woman because of her condition, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.
