Scattered showers in today’s forecast

Sunshine broke out all over the city this morning. But cloudy, wetter weather — with some possible thunderstorms — are still in this afternoon’s forecast, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“Take an umbrella with you. We have scattered showers today,” Schack said. However, the strongest storms will be to the north and west of Lawrence.

At 10:15 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 61 degrees, with an 8-mph wind from the north. Overnight, Lawrence had 0.44 of an inch of rain.

Schack said the high today for Lawrence will be 67, with northeast winds 5-12 mph.

Overnight, the temperature will fall to 47 by early Thursday morning, with northerly winds 15-20 mph.

“It looks like the sunshine returns tomorrow,” Schack said.

Thursday afternoon’s skies will start to clear, with the high reaching 64 and winds from the north, 15 to 20 mph.

Friday’s morning low temperature will be 40, with the high climbing to 71 by Friday afternoon under sunny skies.
