Pleasant weekend ahead
If you’re heading outside this morning, you might want to take along a jacket.
“That cold front that came through yesterday, really dropped off our temperatures this morning,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. At 8:15 a.m., the temperature had fallen to 48, making Lawrence one of the coolest areas in northeast Kansas, Schack said.
“We do break out with plenty of sunshine this afternoon,” Schack said. Today’s temperature was expected to climb to a high of 82 by late this afternoon, under mostly sunny skies.
Mostly clear skies and pleasant conditions are in Schack’s forecast for the weekend.
“The weather looks fantastic if you have outside plans,” she said.
Saturday’s morning low will start out at 50, but climb to a high of 77 with northeast winds 5 to 10 mph, under mostly clear skies.
“If you’re going out to the KU-Texas Tech game tomorrow afternoon (2:30 p.m. at Kansas University’s Memorial Stadium), it’s a great-looking forecast,” she said. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s at game time, she said.
But the weather will cool off again on Saturday night, with the temperature bottoming out at 46 Sunday morning, she said. However, the temperature will climb Sunday to a high of 76 by late afternoon, she said.
