Better grammar
To the editor:
Yikes, I have an English degree! On our stroll downtown Friday evening, we were approached by the On The Street reporter inquiring about our participation in the sesquicentennial activities on Saturday, Sept. 18. I was happy to promote the parade and other downtown events, which my husband, children and I would be attending.
My mistake was not reviewing with him what would be quoted under my picture, as I am certain he paraphrased my statement in his own grammatical reference. As a former teacher, I was embarrassed by the misquote that “me and my husband” would be attending the festivities.
I have endured gentle ribbing from friends, several of whom shared their own humorous and not-so-humorous misquotes.
Nonetheless, my family and I had a lovely day. Happy birthday, Lawrence!

Lawrence
