Clearing skies expected after noon

Lawrence might get a light sprinkle or two this morning. But this afternoon should be mostly sunny, with temperatures in the mid 70s, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“The rainfall should be over around the noon hour — if we see any at all,” Schack said. A cold front that was moving east across Kansas will arrive about noon, bringing clearer skies, she said.

Today’s high was expected to reach 78 by mid afternoon. Overnight, the thermometer will fall to a low of 52 by early Friday morning.

Friday’s high will be a little warmer, reaching the 80-degree mark under mostly clear skies, she said.

Friday night will continue to be clear, with the low dropping by early Saturday morning to 49.

“We cool it back to the 70s for the weekend,” Schack said.

Those going to the Kansas University football game Saturday afternoon should see clear skies, with a high of 76, she said.
