Laudatory guest

To the editor:

I would like to thank the city of Lawrence for a wonderful experience I took part in this past week.

Myself and nearly 50 other law enforcement officers from Kansas and Missouri took part in a weeklong training seminar held Sept. 12-17. The CSLEEDS training was hosted by the FBI in conjunction with the Lawrence Police Department and the Kansas University Public Safety Office, for law enforcement executives from the central states area.

I have never felt so well welcomed as I did this past week. The staff of both departments are pillars of good tidings for the City of Lawrence. I’m sure this does not come as news to those of you blessed with the service of both Chief Ron Olin and Director Ralph Oliver. My many thanks to you and your staffs for taking care of us so well.

As with most training, it is not all work and study. During my free time, I found myself experiencing some fine dining opportunities, shopping that compares or exceeds many much-larger cities and simply strolling the downtown area.

Having supported the black and gold of Missouri University for so many, many years, I must say, you Jayhawkers surely do have many bragging rights of your own. Your beautiful city, bright and clean downtown atmosphere and studious campus all speak volumes to me as a visitor.

I do wish to salute a truly gifted city: Lawrence.
