Auctions to benefit humane society

The Lawrence Humane Society will have its 10th annual Pawsible Dream Benefit Auction on Friday.

The event, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature both a silent and a live auction. Auction items include collegiate and professional sports memorabilia, the work of local artists, gift certificates from area restaurants and hotels, and a variety of pet products.

Proceeds from the event will help fund the Humane Society’s services, which include providing shelter for more than 6,000 dogs, cats and other small animals each year. The event is the largest of the Humane Society’s fund-raisers, and accounts for roughly 25 percent of the organization’s annual budget.

The silent auction begins at 6 p.m. The live auction begins at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the event cost $15 for a single, or two for $25. Tickets can be purchased through the Lawrence Humane Society in advance, but will be available at the door at the Holidome, 200 McDonald Drive.
