Weekend’s entertainment includes birthday celebrations, music

If you’re in the mood for a birthday party, Lawrence is celebrating its official 150th — along with 120-year-old Haskell Indian Nations University — this weekend.

But if you’re all partied out by this evening, a tranquil musical offering awaits at the Lawrence Arts Center. American Indian flutist TerryLee Whetstone will perform a concert in conjunction with the Lawrence Indian Arts Show. You can even drop by the arts center gallery before the performance to check out creations by native peoples from across the country.
