Lawrence Police released the following statistics for police activity during the weekend:

Friday:

  • 350 calls
  • 63 reports
  • nine burglaries
  • four thefts
  • 10 noninjury accidents
  • three injury accidents

Saturday:

  • 374 calls
  • 43 reports
  • three burglaries
  • two thefts
  • six noninjury accidents
  • four injury accidents

Sunday:

  • 303 calls
  • 32 reports
  • two burglaries
  • four thefts
  • four noninjury accidents
  • two injury accidents
  • Someone drove a vehicle into a townhouse at 2770 Grand Circle at 1:43 a.m. Saturday. Two residents inside, a man and a woman, received cuts and scrapes. More information wasn’t available Monday because a report hadn’t been completed.
  • A 24-year-old Oskaloosa man told police he was head-butted and hit in the back of the head with a beer bottle during a fight shortly after midnight Sunday at Coyote’s, 1003 E. 23rd St. He was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for cuts on the back of his head and below his eye. Police are investigating but have not made any arrests.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A Douglas County woman reported roughly $2,000 in property, including jewelry and a digital camera, taken in a forced-entry burglary at her home on North 2050 Road in the northwest corner of the county. The incident happened between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday.
  • Johnny J’s Used Cars, 814 Iowa, reported a 1994 Buick Roadmaster valued at $6,000 taken last week.
  • Someone caused $2,000 in damage to a GMC Yukon parked in the 2500 block of Winterbrook Drive and took items including an $800 DVD player, $300 amplifier, $500 speaker box and $1,200 Alpine stereo. The incident happened sometime between Friday and Saturday.

A similar stereo disappearance happened early Friday in the 2300 block of Wakarusa Drive, where a 19-year-old KU student reported a loss of $1,200, including missing items and damage to a car dashboard.

  • An array of jewelry worth $3,240 disappeared between 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Thursday from a home in the 1400 block of Applegate Court. Items taken included earrings, necklaces, rings and a jewelry hutch.
  • A 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck valued at $4,000 was taken between 8:15 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday from the 1100 block of Tennessee Street. It belonged to an 18-year-old Merriam man.
  • A 1992 Ford E-150 conversion van worth $5,000 was taken between Tuesday and Saturday from the 700 block of New Jersey Street.

Injury accidents

  • A 47-year-old Lawrence woman was treated Sunday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a wreck at Sixth and Michigan streets that damaged a power pole. The wreck happened at 11:53 a.m. when a 1996 Ford Taurus driven by Jonathan L. Decker, 24, Lawrence, turned in front of a Toyota Corolla driven by Terry D. Flowers, Lawrence. Decker’s car then hit a power pole and knocked two lines loose, according to a report. Flowers was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she was treated and released.
