To the editor:

In the liberation of some 50 million Afghans and Iraqis, over 1,000 American soldiers have given their lives. In the year 2003, 17,013 persons in the United States have been killed in alcohol-related vehicle crashes. To what noble cause did they give their lives? Where are the protesters in the streets showing their sorrow for those who lost their lives? Where is their outrage against such slaughter?

Could it be that the protesters are simply playing politics with human lives?

As a survivor of Pearl Harbor, I must say I am as pleased with President George Bush’s actions following 9-11 as I was with President Roosevelt’s actions following Pearl Harbor.
