Coroner rules Miller died of aspyhxia

A coroner said today that Lawrence resident Mary E. Miller, whose husband is charged with murdering her July 28, died of aspyhxia – lack of oxygen to the blood often caused by suffocation.

The 46-year-old Miller was found dead inside her family’s home at 2105 Carolina St. in what police initially said was an unsuspicious death. But after a coroner ruled it a homicide, prosecutors charged Miller’s husband, carpenter and former Christian-school trustee Martin K. Miller, 45, with first-degree murder.
