Pay attention

To the editor:

In response to the Oct. 8 article “Vote! Kansas Web site launched to answer polling questions,” I share the frustration discussed. Electorate apathy is especially noticeable in the Kansas race for U.S. Senate between Lee Jones and Sen. Brownback. When the electorate pays little attention to candidates’ issues, then we all suffer as Kansans.

Kansans should pay close attention to the U.S. Senate race because the decisions made in the U.S. Senate affect us directly. For starters, Brownback has voted numerous times to cut education funding, according to voterpunch.com. He even voted to cut funding to Head Start (same reference). Lee Jones is committed to funding education. But if people are not aware of these issues, then there will not be a fair election.

Kansans need to pay attention to the candidates’ issues and stop voting only on party lines.
