Change needed

To the editor:

We have just read your article (“Federal sanctions for schools in need of improvement,” Oct. 13) on the fact that LHS’s special needs students did not reach the state requirements for “No Child Left Behind.” We have one question. Why do teachers spend hours labeling, developing special classes, modifying tests and doing other things for these students and then expect them to do as well as regular students on the state tests?

Some will and others won’t. Sounds unfair to us. The rules and regulations on the state tests need to be changed when it comes to low-level students.
