To the editor:

“We support our troops!” is pretty much everyone’s slogan, whether Republican or Democrat. So what kind of support do the troops want in this election?

In a Military Times survey (Army Times, Oct. 11) of over 4,000 of its readers, Mr. Bush is the choice of 73 percent of those surveyed; 18 percent support Mr. Kerry for their commander-in-chief.

While not claiming to be a survey of the entire military, the results indicate substantial support for a man who has proved to the troops he is the best candidate to continue to lead the war against terrorism.

As Congressman Ryun and the other Republican members of our congressional delegation continue to do, we need to “support our troops!” President Bush is the commander-in-chief the troops want and need.
