To the editor:
As a supporter of the south-of-Wakarusa South Lawrence Trafficway alignment, I have noticed that no one has apparently considered the ultimate decision to preserve the wetlands. If the 32nd Street alignment is so vital, so compelling and so important, why not tunnel 100 to 200 feet beneath the wetlands ?
A prime advantage of the south-of-Wakarusa location is that we would not have to do costly tunneling and photovoltaic-powered venting for the SLT tunnel if located beneath the wetlands, which really should be preserved as wildlife habitat.
