To the editor:

I am a seventh-grader at South Junior High School. I was particularly displeased with the way the article about our school was presented. I understand that "School fails at every turn" is a figure of speech referring to the halls, but the article's subtitle, "A textbook case of poor performance," implied, if not purposely, that the South students perform poorly academically.

In addition, there was a section of the article named "Academic problems." However, there is little mention of our school's student performance. The real focus of this section was the school's poor ventilation system.

As a student, I do support the fact that our school's condition is bad, but this has nothing to do with the performance of the students and teachers at South.

I take pride in being an SJHS cougar and believe a school is made of the people in it, not the walls surrounding it.
