To the editor:
Regarding the Nov. 7 article on Lawrence Memorial Hospital's proposed expansion, I agree and appreciate the fact the hospital needs and is looking to the public for its financial participation to achieve this goal.
I believe it also is appropriate for the public to have input on the types of services this money is to provide. It is my strong, considered opinion that our community should now, and in the future, be providing care for the mentally ill. At this important juncture, rest assured that many of us intend to petition the powers that be in this regard, with far more interest than when we were told of the elimination of this former service.
To expand and reformulate our hospital, and not have a place for our friends and loved ones in need, would be a tragic disgrace.
